Isaac Spencer

Born 1982 in the USA, Isaac began his dance training with Joan Sheary. He graduated from Walnut Hill School (2000) and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Juilliard School (2000-2004) under the direction of Benjamin Harkarvy and Lawrence Rhodes. He was a member of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (2004-2006). Isaac joined Cullberg Ballet in May 2006.  In 2009, Isaac collaborated in the production RESA with Rumpus Room Dance in Portland, Oregon. He created Always, Always/Never, Never   together with Rachel Tess in Portland, Oregon in 2010. He collaborated in the production Tremor with Sebastian Matthias as part of his residency at K3 - Kampnagel Tanzplan Hamburg, co-produced by Dampfzentrale Bern, and winning the jury-prize at the 100 Degrees Festival at Sophiensaele Berlin in 2011.  Isaac received the Princess Grace Award for Modern Dance in 2003 and was named one of the ´25 to watch´ in Dance Magazine in 2005. Ballet Tanz named him an ‘outstanding young dancer’ in their 2006 yearbook and he was a grant recipient from Konstnärsnämnden in 2011.

 

From season 2012/2013, Isaac is on leave of absence.
